Cerbo Wins My DPC Story’s "The Battle of the EHRs"

Posted by Cerbo

The entire staff and team at Cerbo are beyond humbled to announce that we were named the 2025 Battle of the EHRs Champion by My DPC Story.

“We’ve always taken a tremendous amount of pride in being a solution that was built with DPC founders in mind. That’s at the core of everything we do,” said Jonathan Dunn, CEO of Cerbo.

“The fact that this recognition comes from the votes of real DPC founders out there, servicing real patients every single day, we’re taking that as a sign that we’re doing the right things. But this doesn’t mean we’re going to rest. If anything, this will motivate and rejuvenate our passion to make the best product possible.”

What is The Battle of The EHRs?

The Battle of the EHRs was organized by Dr. Maryal Concepcion (MD, FAAFP) and Nathalia Hyland (Head of Healthcare Marketing & Strategy) from My DPC Story. It is a way for DPC founders and clinicians to see what EHRs are currently working, based on unbiased and unfiltered feedback from the people using them right now.

The rankings are based on the results of a survey of almost 300 people in the DPC space, including physicians and clinic teams. Many answered the 17-question quick poll about their practice profile, their current EHR, and their satisfaction levels. Some also answered the deep dive add-on, which featured 70 extra questions that dove into their feelings on the specifics of the patient portals, billing, labs, automation, and mobile apps.

Cerbo was the overall champion by placing first in the following categories:

1. Ease of use (clinician UI)
2. Patient portal and engagement
3. Integration and interoperability
4. Feature set and functionality
5. Communication and workflow tools
6. Customization and flexibility

We swept every usability-driven category, with respondents raving about our “intuitive navigation” and “drag-and-drop SOAP building that worked before my first patient showed up.”

Why DPCs Love Cerbo

DPCs are often frustrated by a general lack of tools and services that were built with their specific needs in mind. As a result, they often try to cobble together their own combination of third-party or “bolt-on” programs to run their practice. The result is often a Frankenstack that they find themselves working very hard to make work for them.

Most DPC clinics are small, but scaling fast. Many are one to two clinicians with minimal support staff, growing panels, and they’re limited on time. The same themes came through in the Battle of EHR results. Teams choose Cerbo for ease of use, workflow efficiency, responsive support, and plug-and-play integrations. Patient portals are often a weak spot across the cohort, and Cerbo's portal leadership helps close the gap.

That’s why they often have a lightbulb moment when they find something that was built for them. For example, Dr. Jlyn Pritchard is a Cerbo + Hint + Spruce power-user and said, "With almost 300 patients and a side gig I love, I needed an EMR that handled mobility, comprehensive documentation, and 'all-in-one' functionality. Paying a little more for software is far cheaper than paying staff to sort, organize, follow up, and trend data."

Elsewhere, Cara Direct Care is a Cerbo customer that migrated to us after over 7 years with another system. Their Clinic Manager, Paula Tomczyk, admitted that there was hesitation. "Switching EHRs seven years in was not easy… But the new system made things much easier. The workflow is more efficient, and we can see everything we need in one place.”

She added, "I can't stress enough how important it is to choose the right system from day one… This is a long-term investment, and the system you pick will directly impact your practice's efficiency.”

Cerbo is built for lean teams. When you're short on staff, small time-savers add up. These are the ones DPC clinicians rely on:

  • Drag-and-drop SOAP blocks to build or tweak note templates in seconds.
  • Conditional macros that auto-insert the right blocks or text based on context.
  • One-screen eFax plus lab orders to send, receive, and tag results without tab-hopping.
  • Scheduled smart messages to trigger follow-ups like “CBC due in 3 months,” then auto-file replies.
  • Role-based layouts so the MA, clinician, and biller each see what they need with fewer clicks.

These workflows are the engine behind our wins in clinician UX, workflow tools, customization, integrations, and patient portal, and they're the reason teams tell us charting feels faster on day one.

Switching Without the Stomachache

Nearly one in four respondents say they’re considering a new EHR, but migrations are a top fear.

Our clinician-first approach to onboarding makes migration easier than you think. We offer:

  • Pre-migration checklist and structured export → import with validation
  • Template mapping so your note workflow shows up the way you expect
  • Role-based live training and office-hours support at go-live
  • Post-go-live audit to tighten billing, portal, and automation

We provide a do-it-all EHR, practice management, and patient portal solution that helps you slash the time spent on administrative tasks, freeing up your time to work on your business instead of being trapped by tasks in your business. At the same time, Cerbo offers online scheduling, text message reminders, and supports integrations with your CRM.
