Dr. Cynthia Barrett, PT, DPT, CSCS, CNS, IFMTP is also known as The Gut Health Guru®. She has a deep passion for health and wellness, having founded Wellness Couture after realizing conventional medicine can fail to improve chronic health ailments because it often ignores the unique aspects of an individual’s chemical makeup.
Dr. Barrett is also a Certified Nutrition Specialist (CNS) and an Institute for Functional Medicine Trained Practitioner practicing Functional Medicine or “root cause medicine,” focusing on the Gut Microbiome. She received a Bachelor of Science degree in Community Health Education from Hunter College and obtained her Doctorate in Physical Therapy (DPT) from New York University.
After moving their practice from New York to Miami, Dr. Barrett and her team started to see signs that they were outgrowing their software. They were using Mindbody, a SaaS made for gyms, spas, and fitness trainers.
“Mindbody is great for booking classes, not for patient care. It worked well… until it did not,” said Dr. Barrett.
They quickly realized that they needed something designed for professionals working in the functional medicine space. The two biggest must-haves for their new solution would be:
-The ability to create custom patient forms
-A patient portal
That’s what brought them to Cerbo.
Wellness Couture signed on in 2020 and our team worked extensively with them to move their day-to-day operations and patient info into Cerbo.
Dr. Barrett described the process as, “Lengthy, but well worth it.” She added, “Now our customer service is way more robust because people know the ins and outs… And Cerbo has helped me to organize how I run my evaluation process.”
We went to work on finally giving Wellness Couture a platform that gave them the ability to:
-Create and store their own questionnaires
-Book appointments efficiently
-Communicate with patients in a HIPAA-compliant portal
Simply put, they needed a solution that was built for functional health practitioners, not health and fitness professionals.
Dr. Barrett specializes in gut health, physical therapy, nutrition, IFM, as well as strength and conditioning. This involves a lot of conversations with her patients about various health supplements, and working with them to find the best products to meet their needs.
In this regard, Cerbo turned out to be the perfect solution for Wellness Couture because of our seamless integration with Fullscript.
“I love the integration. When I am working with a patient and I am going over the supplements they are taking, I can advise them, “I want to use this brand and I recommend you use this,” said Dr. Barrett.
“I can add notes, order it through Fullscript, and recommend supplements in their chart. Once you select the vitamin you prescribe, it pops up, you click on it, and don’t have to search for it again. It enables you to send it to the patient. And from there, they can order it on their own.”
