Healthcare is personal for Amanda Hoelscher, Nurse Practitioner - APRN, AGNP.

Her journey began over 18 years ago when her first husband was diagnosed with cancer. Walking through that experience changed her life. It fueled her passion for medicine and led her to earn both her BSN and MSN from the University of South Florida. She began her career in oncology, helping patients through some of their most challenging moments.

This journey led her to founding Uplift Concierge, where she helps patients go beyond conventional care with a personalized, direct care subscription high-connection care model that blends:

Today, she serves a number of subscription-based patients, many of whom are couples.

The Challenge

Prior to founding Uplift, Hoelscher had worked with a number of EHRs that frustrated her with a lack of integration.

“I was working part-time at a med spa, and they've been using PatientNow, and I just hated it. When eScribing, it would either duplicate things or they would fully disappear from my med list. They didn't stack neatly like Cerbo. There was no connection to my PDMP,” said Hoelscher.

She added that she had also struggled mightily with double and even triple entry with other tools. “It was kind of a hodgepodge of a functional EMR that somebody had worked with… It was actually quite terrible.”

“Zero integrations. Really, not a lot of functionality. No e-prescribing. And so I was dealing with, ‘Okay, I've entered everything into my system, and now I have to enter it again into Labcorp, and I have to enter it again in MD Toolbox so that I can eScribe.’ And it was a mess.”

When opening her practice, she knew she could do better than that. And she knew her patients deserved better.

The Solution

Hoelscher had seen how the wrong EHR can lead to repetitive, time-wasting tasks across a multi-person team. When launching Uplift as a sole practitioner, she knew the pressure was even higher to find the right tool.

“Being a one-woman show, I was the one doing every little thing, and I know how many keystrokes this saves me. I might not have the numbers for you, but I'm very aware.”

After doing extensive research into EHR solutions, she found Cerbo and soon found that it was “a one-stop shop, full-service EMR that has everything that you need in one place.”  

Integration and functionality were unquestionable deal-breakers. And while an intuitive patient portal wasn’t top-of-mind for Hoelscher, she said that she was pleasantly surprised by Cerbo’s portal.

“The patient portal, I didn’t care terribly much about. But, because I do a lot of telemedicine, it ended up being a really helpful necessity that I didn't even realize I needed, because of being able to get forms signed online. And Cerbo’s form management process is actually pretty good, pretty cool.”

“Having Integrated labs was huge for me. Integrated eScribing with the PDMP monitoring really saves me a lot of time, especially because I've got nine state licenses. I don't need to be logging into this PDMP, and this one, and that one. Yeah, no.”

The Results

Today, Cerbo has been fully integrated into Uplift Concierge’s day-to-day operations. Hoelscher is no longer losing valuable time to double or triple entry, while able to spend her time focusing on patient care.

“Cerbo is smooth in a way that you don't even think about it, which is exactly what I need. I don't want to think about it. I don't want to be like, ‘Oh, well, I got a fax in this system, and now I need to download it and then upload it.’ I love that I am focused on patient care and nothing else.”

“I couldn't imagine changing or being without it. I take it for granted in the best way.”
